Porto Cervo, 24 May 2024. The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda's sporting season has officially opened with the traditional Vela & Golf event. Supported by technical partner Garmin Marine, the competition will run through Sunday 26 May.

The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda team, captained by club member Germano Scarpa, winner of last year's edition, will face five other teams taking part: Marina Militare (skipper Aurelio De Carolis), Pevero Golf Club (skipper Italo Screpanti), Yacht Club Adriaco (skipper Alderico Paganini), Yacht Club Punta Ala (skipper Alessandro Masini), Yacht Club de Monaco (skipper Achille Onorato). 

This morning, at the conclusion of registration procedures, a briefing was held on the panoramic terrace of the YCCS, after which a welcome brunch was enjoyed by all participants. Tomorrow the teams will compete on the greens at Pevero Golf Club, while Sunday 26 May will see them board the Club's J/70 fleet for the competition on the water. The winner of the event will be the crew that obtains the best score from the combined results in the golf competition and the regatta.
