Porto Cervo, 29 August 2019. The Sardinian leg of the Vela Cup took place on 26 August at thel Centro Velico Caprera on a course of just over 15 miles around the beautiful islands of the La Maddalena archipelago.

Victory in real time went to YCCS member Giovanni Lombardi Stronati on the ClubSwan 50 “Django”. Members Giorgio Pierini on the X-50 “Cheechotts” and  Christian Kilger on the Solaris 42R “Tango” were also among the fleet of more than 70 participating boats.

The event also included some interesting activities ashore, such as the initiative to raise awareness of environmental issues “How to become an eco-sailor”, run in collaboration with the Centro Velico Caprera, Medplastic, One Ocean Foundation and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

The next leg of the Vela Cup is scheduled for 14 September in Lerici, in the gulf of Spezia.
