Porto Cervo, June 18, 2019. The 67^th edition of the Rolex Giraglia Cup, one of the Med’s classic offshore regattas, ended recently.

After a spectacular downwind start in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the 243 yachts participating rounded a turning mark off Cavalair-sur-Mer before proceeding towards the Giraglia Rock off Corsica then on towards the finish in Monte Carlo.

The weather conditions were tough with a Mistral that reached 30 knots pushing the larger yachts along the course in less than 24 hours while other yachts had to withdraw.

YCCS wishes to congratulate all members who took part in the event, especially Alex Schaerer, owner of the Maxi 72 Caol Ila, that arrived third in real time and placed first on corrected time. Second was our club member Lindsay Owen Jones’ Magic Carpet Cubed while Armando Grandi aboard his Wally 94.2 Gibian with Mauro Pelaschie at the helm finished twentieth. Also participating were Marietta Strasoldo’s Swan 651 Lunz am Meer and Christian Kilger’s Tango.
