The event is set to take place from 1st to 6th October 2024 in Porto Cervo
Porto Cervo, 21st February 2024. Entries are officially open for the 2024 Etchells European Championship, which will take place after the Smeralda Cup, with both events organised by the YCCS in collaboration with the International Etchells Class. The Notice of Race is available online here.
The regattas, open to all Etchells boats, are scheduled from 1st to 6th October. Racing for the Smeralda Cup will take place on 2nd and 3rd October, as warm-up competition ahead of the European Championship running from 4th to 6th October. The championship will follow the open format, allowing teams from outside of Europe to take part, without competing for the title.
The Ethcells is a one-design keelboat class. With an overall length of 30.5 feet (9.3 metres) and measuring 22 feet (6.71 metres) at the waterline, its elegant lines were designed by American Skip Ethcells in the mid-1960s as part of a design competition to produce a new three-person Olympic class boat. The Soling was chosen in the end, but Etchells went on to build the first vessels of the new fleet.
Entries will be open until 1st September 2024, for full details see the Notice of Race and complete the entry form here.
